Hi All.

I'm having an issue backing up my BCM50 to a linux based network computer.

I have entered all of the appropriate information as follows

Network Folder : \\192.168.1.2\MyBackup
Username:theComputer\root
Password:password
Directory: <nil>

I am able to ping the bcm from the network computer and the network computer from the BCM.  I have verified that my folder permissions are set to

drwxrwxrwx.

But when I click on the test connection it always fails.

I can create files manually within the folder.

Any ideas as to a next step?  I have tried pretty much everything, including silly stuff like changing the direction of the /'s.

Regards

I'm specifying my directory in the directory field.
ie:
Network Folder: \\backupserver\Nortel
and under directory: Application/

backups land in \\backupserver\nortel\application
'Nortel' is a folder shared on the backup server as 'Nortel'.
Be sure permissions are correct and subfolders exist.
Don't ask me about the / vs. \ -What's shown above works for me.

Thanks for the responses folks.... however I have tried everything here, and when I do the test connections, it still fails.  Any other ideas?

Hi there.
I just spoke with one of our Linux folks and he mentioned that you need Samba to get the conversation between windows and linux working.

Curlycord... do you have that running on your Linux box?

Regards.

FTP backup onto Ubuntu OS via PRoFTPD
I does not look like Samba is running but maybe it is not required when using FTP?
