I've had a request and I've done similar things before but this is a little different and I could use some advice before I head down the road to do the work.

A lab supervisor is spending more time in the lab than her office, hence she is missing alot of calls.  I know I can make the lab phone ring with her dn, however, when she is in the office and gets a call, I'd rather the phone not get answered by someone in the lab.  Can I set different ring types for DN's rather than by extension, so direct calls to her office use one ring type and calls coming into the lab will have another?

Both have voice mail, If the pre-described method is workable, I could set her vm to answer after 4 rings, and the lab to answer after 5 rings to avoid issues with that.

If it would be easier to use hunt groups to do this, I'm not opposed but her office doesn't need to ring when the lab gets a call.

I'm probably overthinking this and I can just put a post-it on the phone with instructions for call forwarding and they would be happy, but I'd be amazed if i didn't get a call back due to someone forgetting to turn it off and missing calls/messages.

You can change the Ring for that paticular set by entering
Feature * 6 (four different rings) but all calls, ICM or outside calls will all have the same ring on that set or DN.  Depending on the Cabinet (MICS-CICS) and software version you can assign line ringing types specific to that line only.  Not sure which you are refering to / DN's and extentions are the same. If she is sharing this lab set but has her own dedicated line on this set then you would change the ring type in "line access"  again haveing the same four ring types available to know which line is ringing in at that one set. I would assign her line to the lab set and make that line ring a different type than the lab's lines. Labs lines-ring #1    Her line-ring#2

which KSU and software you are useing?

Suggest forward office to a hunt group, assign HG to the lab phone with distinctive ring.
Requires 6.1 or up.
