Hello All,

I'm going to be upgrading a MICS 5.0 system w/ several PRI's connected. I know in most cases I can just power the system down and switch the software card but I'm worried the sys id will change. I nor the customer has no documentation of the keycodes...imagine that. Anyway it's been awhile since I've done a upgrade on a Norstar and just trying to verify if the sys id will change or stay the same?

You must stop at 6.1 before going to 7.x.

you will probably have to get new keycodes anyway because your system id will change w/ the upgrade from software to software.

As Marv wrote you must go to R6.1 first, then you can go to R7.0/7.1.  All programming should still be intact when you're done.  Check that your NVRAM cartridge is at least a release 02 or you will have grief with the PRI.

Can't I back this system up first then load the data onto the 7.0 software without having to go to 6.1 first? I wanna say that I've done that before but it's been awhile. I'm needing to get this done without stopping at 6.1 first, don't have the time to get the software.

You cannot back up one version and restore to another.
You cannot skip steps.

You can substitute using actual software instead of using a tool.

Ditto to what curlycord wrote.  If you want to keep programming, your system ID and your keycodes you'll have to do the upgrade as prescribed.  Get the R6.1 software and save yourself a lot of grief.
