Ascend MAX 6000 - Routing

Ascend MAX 6000 - Routing

(OP)
I am working on an Ascend MAX 600 with 4 PRI's and I am looking to convert them to inband signalling. I can get the inband T-1's configured and can see incoming calls hitting them, but cannot get them to connect to a modem. Can anyone walk me through how calls route from an incoming T-1 and connect to a modem?

RE: Ascend MAX 6000 - Routing

You need to enable some debugs to verify how your calls are routing:

You can view available debugs with:

max> diag ?

Once you identify the debugs you want enabled (for this situation I would recommend:

max> diag tntcall
max> diag tntroute
max> diag tntterm
max> diag tdm
max> diag t1chan

Verify your debugs are enabled with:

max> diag

Listing all modules with diag ON:
 t1chan debug is ON
 tdm <0x1> debug is ON
 tntcall <0x1> debug is ON
 tntroute debug is ON
 tntterm debug is ON

Now enable the debugs:

max> debug on

Diagnostic output enabled

Disable debugs when done:

max> debug off

If you notice that with the debugs enabled you are not seeing any events, there is a possibility your TNT user account (possibly "admin") is setup to not show debugging level messages.  You can enable this with:

read user admin
set log-display-level = debug
write

To disable that...

read user admin
set log-display-level = none
write

Hopefully this should be enough info to get you started debugging your problem.   It should show you TDM related events (to verify your inband > PRI conversion) and also where the call is routing to (DSP).

Also you can view the event log on a TNT with:

tnt> log -p

(this is equivalent to "show log" on a Cisco IOS device)

In addition if you need to send your debugging data to a syslog server (to easily parse it) you can do that with:

tnt> diag -g syslog

Disable it with:

tnt> diag -g none
