destination-pattern confusion

destination-pattern confusion

(OP)
Got to love this CVOICE book at least its making my google skills stronger.

can someone explain what below code does please?

CODE

!this creates the dial peer I get it.
dial-peer voice 910 pots
!these lines are throwing me off
destination-pattern 9[2-9]..[2-9]......
direct-inward-dial
!send it out of dsgroup0 #23 on T1 Controller 0/0/0
port0/0/0:23

We must go always forward, not backward
always up, not down and always twirling twirling towards infinity.

RE: destination-pattern confusion

When the router receives this destination-pattern it sends the call out the controller.
To break it down:
9 will be the access code the user is dialing on the phone.
The next digit has to match a number between 2 and 9 [2-9]

. is a wild card

so if someone dials
95552341234 the call will go out the controller t1 which seems to be a PRI

what is the purpose of the second [2-9] in there then ?

We must go always forward, not backward
always up, not down and always twirling twirling towards infinity.

RE: destination-pattern confusion

same as the first. That specific digit has to be between 2 and nine.0 or 1 will not match the pattern.
The reason depends on the scenario they are giving this example for. hard for me to say why without knowing specifics.
It is a valid pattern nevertheless

thanks mate.

We must go always forward, not backward
always up, not down and always twirling twirling towards infinity.
