Updating links

Updating links

(OP)
I'm changing the URL of a site and want to know what the best method is to update the site. I know where in the database to change the main URL link, but how do I get that to replicate to all links within the website?

RE: Updating links

do a search of the posts table and do an update via the mysql command line or phpmyadmin.
also you will need to change the options table.

RE: Updating links

If the directory structure remains the same, in my experience, there are only three or four changes that need to be made to change the site location. Most notably, the URL lines in the configure.php files under includes both in the main directory and in the admin directory; and the database mentioned above.

RE: Updating links

all images etc that are embedded carry the full url.  that's why you need to do a search and replace of the posts table if you are changing urls.

the alternative method is an export/import.
