Issues installing CRS XI r1 with .NET - CMC gives 404 error

Just finished installing CRS XI r1 on a windows 2003 server. As far as I understand it you can run the web components on .net or apache tomcat, I've chosen the .NET route.

Originally I got a 404 error after installation when I tried to view CMC or Infoview or any other pages on the server in question (both locally and from a client). After doing a bit of research those pages started showing up correctly (I'm guessing I changed something in IIS and it took a while to take hold since I wasn't reseting the IIS service at that point).

I could log into the CMC and adjust settings, but when logging into Infoview I'd get this error message: "No 508 compliant <TITLE> found in resource strings."

After some Googling around I found out that CRS XI r1 needs .net 1.1 and r2 uses 2.0. I removed 2.0 so that 1.1 was all that was left. I then added it in IIS and restarted service.

After these changes I am able to log into Infoview and browse the sample reports, though now I'm back to getting an http 404 error when loading the CMC page.

The ".NET Administration Launchpad" also works fine. Though the link to the CMC through that page still gives 404 error.

Any ideas what I did to bork the CMC page so that it cannot be found anymore?

I ended up reinstalling with .NET and Tomcat selected. Worked great immediately without any tweaking.
