fcved - Error Code??

fcved - Error Code??

(OP)
I am an end-user, using an applicaton that was built out of Focus DOS versions, and was minorly altering the reporting code (.FEX) files (the printed text date, or data fields required)as is normal procedure.

The error pops up when using save, Save-as or run then save, on an existing report. When you attempt to save, an error message pops up with a small error box, "fcved" and no other details.

You can copy the code from an existing report and paste it, change it and save as a new report, but if you change the new report after saving it, it won't save...it pops up the error code.

I have checked the tutorial manuals, our own instruction manuals, the code and the focus help files, as well as checking the internet.  Unfortunately, the user manual was long ago misplaced, and we've had some trouble replacing it to see if we can understand the error message.

This error may have originated when I shut down the application at one point while it was processing a report execute to a non-existant output (disconnected the old monitors and dot-matrix printer years ago, but was hard coded into the application).  There was no back out option, so I closed out the app, and it is possible that is when the corruption occurred.

Can anyone shed some light on what the error message means, and/or how I can start looking to fix it? Any ideas, thoughts, or direction would be appreciated!

RE: fcved - Error Code??

A quick search of manuals and I found this information, it appears that fcved is a formatting section of the report.  I've pasted the manual part below, you may have inadvertently changed a value in that section that has caused the report to not work.  Hope this helps you.
