So I tried putting a config.cfg file I created onto the System/Primary folder, and booted the 500v2 up, and now all the lights are steady red.  I can't reset the system via the button, I can't access it.  It's just instantly blaring red once I plug it in.

This is my first venture into the 500v2, so I'm looking for some tips on how to address this.  My next step was DTE into the damn thing like I'm used to doing.

I tried powering up while holding the Aux button in, and no luck either.

I get this via DTE

System Primary Failed to open correctly
System Backup is INVALID
NO Main Image file
Bootp Location:
A:\system\primary\ip500v2.bin

then get

P14 Loader v1.2 (SDRAM 128 MB)
MPC8248 CPU Revision 0x0C10
Broadcom Switch Mode was 0x05 now 0x06
EthChipRevId: 0x01  EthPhyId: 0x0143BCA0
Sending BOOTP Request

Received BOOTP Response (IFace 00): C0.A8.2A.01 ip500v2.bin
Erase Main Image Storage Area:
A:\system\primary\ip500v2.bin

OK

Okay.. fixed it...

Combination of Recreating the SD card, modifying bootp's and getting something to eat.

Cheers..

I had a similar issue yesterday.
A customer could not record a message no the EVM.
A quick look on the SD card showed 4 clp files with the exact same size but no codec on it!

After erasing the clp files the complete config went default and was not changeable anymore.
Also the size was 0 bytes.

Monitor showed an error that "fat"was not correct.
Sending an offline config did not change it, it just rebooted and refused to take it.

After removing the SD card, putting it back in and using SSA to disable and enable it again the system started to work again.

Hopefully this is not a common thing with those SD cards smile

Also, the DTMF squeal (when going off hook) issue that was around in early 4.0 and 4.1 is back on V2's with Dig modules.....great smile

Did you have that on 6.0. 8 ?
Had a 1416 with a strange offhook sound.
After unplugging it the sound was gone.
Forgot to try *00

Yes, it is the same issue as it was before only effecting dig handsets at random, they logged off and back on and that fixed it but it would be the sending of DTMF/shortcode that fixed it I think, also unplugging sometimes works sometimes it doesn't smile

This will be a funny period then with dodgy SD cards, the DTMF squealing and a support which you can not get [b]BEFORE[/]you buy (prepade) support which you should not need because it is a [b]BUG[/]
You already bought the stuff (warranty ?)and it is not working as it should do.

So that was my hangover and now i will get some coffee.

Happy queens day blllttt

Did not try that.

Did you use the backup functionality in vmpro ?  (6.0.22)

It seems like that it does not backup the wavs and modules at all.

So it did backup the wavs and modules ?
I have to test but at a customer the folders where empty except for some text files.

Only the account folders had messages in it.

In fact the modules folder should hold the .wav files from menu's and other entry prompts and it doesn't so you would have no backup of those, unfortunatley I don't have £2000 going spare to inform Avaya of this smile

I really think nobody should do it!
It is ridiculous that you have to buy support for something that is not working the way it should do.
But i guess this is all up to the big bosses to solve.

We certainly havent, and have no intention of doing so, and I think you're right nobody should.
Out disty says the feedback they are getting is less than enthusiastic, shall we say.

If they (Avaya) persisit with this it will kill the IPO market. We are looking at NEC now..

It will cause them problems...why, because nobody in their right mind will pay £2000 to fix something they have just bought on the promise that Avaya will refund if it's a bug. And so lots of bugs will go unreported and that will give the IP Office the rightly deserved reputation of being a very buggy system that you have to pay lots of money to fix even fresh out the box. Unless someone from Avaya wants to set us straight on this (we know you monitor these threads very closely) smile

Avaya have lost the plot, and the definately do not listen to their resellers at all. It is their resellers that make them all their cash, is it not?

maybe we should all copy and paste andy sig into our own.

i'd like to think it would be effective, but i'll take a stab in the dark and assume that it's the engineers and people on our side that read these forums, not the fat cats worrying about how they will fund their third swimming pool.

It is all about the money.
They already earn more by the ip endpoint licenses!
Pay for support is fine when it is not a bug but pay before they even check if it is a bug sound stupid to me.

It is the same as buying a car because you want to test drive it.

We need a signed petition of outrage signed by directors of the top 10 or so IPO resellers in the UK to at least send a united protest message to Avaya.
It will probably not change anything but Avaya will be under no illusion of how well their little scheme has been recieved.

I for one would be happy to sign.

During the R6 conference call the new maintenance plan was mentioned and someone from Avaya said it was created as a result of feedback from business partners wanting additional support from Avaya engineers. I work with a lot of different BP's and haven't found one yet that agrees with this new process.

Have you ever tried to get a refund out of Avaya?

They will renege on the deal every time.

cheers
