Greetings all,

I had a couple of email issues this morning. Users sending emails and them bouncing back saying they had tried to deliver but they had timed out or the following message

Running Windows server 2008 SBS

An error occurred while trying to deliver this message to the recipient's e-mail address. Microsoft Exchange will not try to redeliver this message for you. Please try resending this message, or provide the following diagnostic text to your system administrator.

I used the exchange troubleshooting assistant. Here is the first message i got after selecting my exchange server

IPv6 Protocal Not supported
and
Network adaptor IPv6 Address not supported.

Im not sure if this is related but thought id ask before i got any further. Disabling the IPv6 on my SBS 2008 would it fix the issue or cause more trouble?

Any help is appreciated

DO NOT disable ipv6 it will cause massive problems for you. Even if you don't use it it is still required. If you disable it your server will take about 60 mins to boot IF AT ALL.

Have a look at your DNS settings in exchange and the adaptor it is set to use.

How much RAM is installed on this server, and how much free disk space to you have on C:?

Could be a backpressure situation.

BTW, I wouldn't pursue the IPv6 as being the problem unless you see something besides that troubleshooter pointing to it. What do you see in the app logs?

try sending the email (well i mean testing the connection!) using telnet.

Had a couple of issues recently when an ISP didn't like my IP despite having rDNS configured.
