how to get the example in pohnenumbers.zip work on my pda

how to get the example in pohnenumbers.zip work on my pda

(OP)
hello
im having some trouble making the example given in phonenumbers.zip work on my pda (WM6) JVM J9 IBM

i ve exported the databases to my pda
the application could establish the connection to the local server on the pda but the application doesnt print the result of the search

hope u can help me

RE: how to get the example in pohnenumbers.zip work on my pda

Hello.
The application is doing a LIKE '%'||:name||'%' AND '%'||:phone||'%' search. So entering both name and phone number may limit the search too much.

Also, as can be seen in the database file, the family names are random data, so search for given names only.

I get 2 hits for "Steve" and 21 hits for "Anna".

hi
i just entred 4 names in my database
i guess the problem is the export
beacuse i cant access to the database with the Mimer explorer on my PDA.

mimer sql error -14006
sqlstate = 08004
error message text not
found for -14006

everything is working fine on my pc (sun wtk)but not on my pda
hmmmmm

thank u 4 ur reply

RE: how to get the example in pohnenumbers.zip work on my pda

According to the Mimer SQL Mobile help, -14006 means "Login failure". I found it by searching for -14006. Login failure implies that the database itself has been found on the PDA, but possibly the login credentials was wrong.

Definately, the problem is related to the export phase. Have you been using the interactive guide, or the command line mode? Also, which Mimer version are you using?

Can you login to the development database on the desktop by using DB Visualizer, or the command line tool BSQL? It is also possible to run the Mimer Explorer tool on the desktop to have the identical, well nearly the identical experience as on the device.

Hi
-i get the rows with DBVisualizer => the database has been  correctly loaded on the PC

so now i get this error on the mimer explorer explorer on the pda
mimer sql error -12640
sqlstate = s1000
according to the Mimer SQL Mobile help
Precompiled statement <%> does not exist or no execute privilege

im using the latest version of mimer sql mobile 10.0

this is the way i uses to export the database to my pda

i ve created a local database called gogo on the pc and used sql batch to load schema.sql from the file mimermidpdemo
in the file BrowsePhoneNumbers.java
i did this changes
mds = new MimerDataSource();                                mds.setServerName("localhost");
mds.setDatabaseName("gogo");                              //mds.setPortNumber(4712);          ive deleted

and ive tested it on sun wtk
everything was fine

then ive created a local database on my pda with the same name `gogo`
then ive used the option export to handeled
then windows mobile as target platform
then the source:gogo  password:SYSADM  target:gogo
apply compression : metadata
overwrite

thank you for helping me

RE: how to get the example in pohnenumbers.zip work on my pda

I don't think you should ever get -12640 from the Mimer Explorer. That tool is a guide which should avoid those kind of errors. For example, it is not possible to enter ad-hoc SQL queries using this tool. Only those statements that exist in the database can be executed.

I suspect you are really saying this error is returned by the application. If this is the case, the problems is related to the fact that the Mimer Mobile server only executes predefined SQL statements. The source code file BrowsePhoneNumbers.java, line 178, contains a Java-clause which executes the statement PHNQRY in the database.

The PHNQRY statement is created last in the load file SCHEMA.SQL (from PhoneNumbers.zip).

Can you see the PHNQRY statement in Mimer Explorer?

RE: how to get the example in pohnenumbers.zip work on my pda

(OP)
hii

no i cant  see the PHNQRY statement in Mimer Explorer
when i login i get that error mimer sql error -12640

now i ve created a new local server
and i used sql batch to load the database

i can t understand why it doesnt want to load the schema sql anymore

RE: how to get the example in pohnenumbers.zip work on my pda

Hi.
I think I figured it out, try reexporting the database but selecting compression level "system views". The "metadata" compression level is only for Mimer SQL Micro, and you are using Mimer SQL Mobile.

RE: how to get the example in pohnenumbers.zip work on my pda

(OP)
i did try it
so i ve got:
precompiled  statement call phnqry(?,?,?) does not exist or no execute privilege (in my the midlet)
the explorer is working fine

hmmmm....

i guess the problem is loading the schema.sql
i tried to load line by line on the bsql
i get to much errors

RE: how to get the example in pohnenumbers.zip work on my pda

(OP)

my problem was the precompiled statement
ive loaded it and then i made the export as you said
the application is working
now i can start my project

i was using the mimermidpdemo.zip
the schema.sqlof it  had no "create statement"
so i took the "create statement" from phonenumbers.zip

so now i can start my project

thank for helping me
pleased to see you here again
