I'm trying to get some kind of asset management software installed at a company I just started with.  I'm their first IT employee and they have no idea how much equipment they have, software licenses, etc.  The company has 3 locations, 2 servers (3rd location logs in remotely) and about 80 total employees/workstations.

I'm currently in the middle of downloading SysAid's free version but trying to see what other options are out there.  I wouldn't mind spending a little money if it's worth it, but I don't need some $8000+ piece of software just to keep track of a few dozen computers.

I'd like the system to be pretty easy to install, setup and use as I have a million other tasks to do each day.  But I want an accurate listing of equipment and installed software on each.  If it can discover and track network equipment, even better.

Any opinions? Thanks!

I am currently using Spiceworks and have very few complaints.
It includes an Inventory feature as well as a helpdesk and other features that you may not need.
It is free, but 'ad-supported' which has not been intrusive at all, generally an ad on the right sidebar and one on the bottom left sidebar of the Spiceworks pages.

Go to sourceforge and check out OCS - It's free and works pretty well
