TDPO password change stopping Oracle backups

unixfreak (ISP)

I've setup 'password generate' and tested the password changes, 'tdpoconf showenvironment' works and the TDPO.hostname file gets updated, but trying to back up I get:

ANS1352E (RC52)   The session is rejected. Your password has expired.

Does Oracle need to be restarted?

Thanks

No... just reset the password in TSM (as it seems expired) and it should work.. alternatively you may need to regen the tdpo password.. thru tdpoconf - no oracle restart needed.

Well, it doesn't work.

What do I do? I'm a bit stuck.

As far as I can recall, all you need to do is run "tdpoconf password".  Make sure you are using the correct tdpo.opt file(i.e. TDPO_OPTFILE=/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/oracle/bin64/tdpo.opt)and that should be that...

So:
1) cd /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/oracle/bin64 (assuming 64bit)
2) ./tdpoconf passw -tdpo_optfile=/wherever/tdpo.opt
3) Enter the TSM password

Done..

The TSM administrator just expired the password again and running 'tdpoconf showenvironment' I now get this:

"ANS1352E (RC52)   The session is rejected. Your password has expired."

Are you sure you both understand what I'm trying to do? You've both said to reset the password but the whole point of 'password generate' is that you *don't* have to reset the password as it's done automatically.

I just realised I might have been looking at the wrong file. Changing this in api/bin64/dsm.sys I now get:

ANS0236E (RC2032) On dsmInit, the owner is not allowed to establish a session when PASSWORDACCESS=generate.

passwordaccess=generate, that is... (according to the TDP for Oracle documentation

Just tried that, made no difference.

Hmm.... did you try "passwordaccess=prompt"?

Just validate all the dsm.opt/sys files to make sure you aren't accidentally using a different one (I've done this too often).

Running out of ideas for this one - short of uninstalling/reinstalling...

It was "passwordaccess=prompt" before. How would this help? I get a different error if I change it, so I have the right file.

I thought you said it was passwordaccess=generate before?
unixfreak (ISP)

No, it has always been passwordaccess=prompt as our old version 5.3 didn't support passwordaccess=generate
