Hi all,

can anyone recommend a (ideally free smile ) tool that can.

ping an IP address all day and

a) Send an email if it doesn't respond for x amount of pings and
b) Send an email at the end of the day with a summary of the days ping performance.

I;m using Colasoft CoolPing at the minute which is great but doesn't do either of the above.

Thanks
John

That can be written pretty painlessly. What OS will run the tool? Scripting languages like Ruby are your friend winky smile

Hi, Thanks for the reply.

it will run on xp.

Never heard of Ruby, done a bit of work in VB but thats about it.

I'll give that a go as I'm very keen to be able to create my own tools like this.

Thanks a lot
John

Here's a few links to get you started:

http://rubyforge.org/projects/wping/

This last one may not do exactly what you want, but at least you'll know about rubyforge ;)
