I'm having trouble installing Yellow Dog Linux on an iBook G3. It starts the install, but then locks up after about 22 lines or so. It finds the PCI bridge, NVRAM, etc. Is there a way to force a "safe" start? Like lower resolutions, etc.?

Thanks. Guess it's back to OS X.

Why Yellow Dog?, Isn't the the formentioned distro that you can install on your PS3?

I had heard from a friend in San Jose that they used Yellow Dog on all their Macs and it worked fine. Of course, they have new G5 Macs, and mine is an old G3 iBook. I was wanting to use Mac hardware to run Linux, but I'll just use Apple's weird version of BSD (Darwin) and compile the source I need for the Mac kernel. Thanks.

if you want to install Linux, then have a read:

Thanks! I got the KDE version of Ubuntu to work - Kubuntu. Very slick!
