We tried every thing under the sun to reset the password and couldn't. The books say stuff like Interrupt boot with CTRL U. we tried using the ethernet port with no luck. Would love a little help. Thanks Tim

Tim

The process says it does not work for EdgeIron.

Have a look at

http://www.foundrynet.com/services/documentation/edgeIron/EdgeIron-Install-v137-110602.pdf

Buried in there it says press the reset button (it is down a hole, so you need a pin to push it). The document says you will be prompted for a password. The default is 'foundry'. Then you can issue the command 'reload to-defaults'.

I don't think the document tells the whole truth, and I haven't got a switch to try it on. There may be an additional step if there is a non-default password configured; you may be able to hit a key that will get you to a routine to complete the password reset, but it is not in the .pdf

I also looked at http://www.foundrynet.com/services/documentation/edgeIron/24G_2402CF_4802CF_User.pdf

Appendix A, page 1 has a password reset routine. As you say, it says here: 'Set the switch to its default configuration. Make a direct
connection to the switch's console port and power cycle
the switch. Immediately after powering on, press
<Ctrl><u> to access the system file menu. Select <D> to
delete your current startup configuration file. Press <Q> to
boot the switch.'

The issue may be that you need to make a direct, i.e. console, connection to the switch. See page 2-3 for instructions.

Hope this helps
EB

Thanks eurobadger for the info. I was still unsuccessful using  Appendix A, page 1 has a password reset routine. As you say, it says here: 'Set the switch to its default configuration. Make a directconnection to the switch's console port and power cyclethe switch. Immediately after powering on, press<Ctrl><u> to access the system file menu. Select <D> todelete your current startup configuration file. Press <Q> toboot the switch. The switchs did not respond to the Ctrl <u> commmand but I appreciate the help. Thanks again Tim47
