Hi

having a stupid problem but can't see what I'm missing.

Client running exchange 2000 on server 2000 wants OWA

Looked in add remove programs and then found

put the exchange cd in

when it runs up select setup server and components

(i dont have this)

I have Exchanger server setup.

I can see no optio to add OWA and in the active directory users exchange options there is no entry for owa.#

Can someone tell me where/how to add the service?

thanks

Ian

try this:
http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Configuring_and_Using_OWA_in_Exchange_2000_Server.html

site address would be:
http://<hostname or IP>/exchange
https://<hostname or IP>/exchange

There is no service to add, but it may be stopped in IIS.

Hi

thanks one and all, I have progressed but not sure if it's good or bad.

I've been to the exchange virtual server has a red cross indicating the service is not running.

So I started it and after 30 secs or so get the error

the service did not respond in  to the start control in a timely manner.

Facility W32

ID 800704id

Exchange system manager.

I've looked at google and found nothing.

Is this a generic message?

thanks

Ian

Did you follow the article? If you added the OWA app following the article it should just work. Did you patch the server to SP4 after the install and run post SP4 updates? Did you restart the server?

Hi

yes I followed that but have since found deeper issues;-(

If I type in on the server http://localhost/  I get a web page saying Mr Noone

Which is leading me towards the panic button, because the default website is disabled and it I change the port from 80 to 8025 then http://localhost/exchange brings up the owa interface.

Isn't life fun?

cheers

Sounds like you have something else running on port 80. Look for apache or similar and remove it then put OWA back to port 80.

cheers

Ian
