How to connect to Octel 300 directly with a laptop

KimberlyE (MIS)

Can you tell me what cable I need to connect directly to an Octel 300 with a laptop?  I know the vendor has done it and he uses Procomm.  How do I do it?  What settings in Procomm?  Our normal method is dialing into the modem but it is hung for some reason and I need to get in.  Thank you, Kimberly

From your laptop, just pull a straight V24/RS-232 serial cable to the serial 25 pin female V24/RS-232 connector on the front plate of the O300. This connector is just behind the door.
Arrange your Procomm or Hyperterminal to run 19.200 bits/s, 7 bits / even parity /one stopbit and no flow control.
Hereafter just hit the "enter" key, and you will be prompted for a password.
