I'm running build 7100 on an ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard and I'm having problems with my network connection dropping between my computer and router (It's a Sagem F@ST 2504)

I've been having this problem with every build since 7000.

I have the latest nVidia drivers for my motherboard (nForce Driver Version 15.25 release on March 16th) but the problem exists with or without them.

I have tried a different router, same problem. I have tried both Ethernet connections on my motherboard, same problem.

I thought it was only happening at random times but after a little investigation it seems to consistently happen whenever I update my podcasts in iTunes or when I'm downloading something in uTorrent. It does occasionally happen when I'm surfing the net with both those programs closed though.

I'm assuming it's not an issue with my ISP because even when my computer looses connection I can still access the internet with my iPhone, PS3 and XBox 360 though the router.

The only way I can temporarily solve the problem is to open the network and sharing center and run the troubleshooter by clicking on the little yellow triangle which resets the connection between my computer and router.

Can anyone suggest anything I might be able to try to solve this because it's getting real tiresome resetting my network connection 10+ times a day.

Forgot to mention, this problem happens with both x86 and x64 versions.

If you need the Bonjour Service running, for ITunes, Adobe, or whatever, you could try uninstalling the applications that use that Service, and reinstall them in a Compatibility Mode for Vista or XP, and see if you still have the problem?

How to troubleshoot a program that does not run as expected after it is installed on Windows Vista

Make older programs run in this version of Windows

Hi

I'm back to report that since I uninstalled Bonjour Services I have had no problems since June 1.

It seems to be truly fixed.

Must be a different issue in my case.

I've just done a fresh install of build 7201, I have not installed ANY additional software yet my connection has still been dropping.

What Router do you use? or even switch?

there are older hardware that do not play nice with the updates that have happened in VISTA and continued in W7...

Troubleshoot network connection problems

Check your router. Because of the new networking features in Windows Vista, some older network routers are not fully compatible with Windows Vista and can cause problems.

I get disconnected from my network periodically.

Windows might be turning off your network adapter to save power. Turn off the power-saving option in the network adapter's properties (wired network adapters only):

1. Open Network Connections by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, clicking Network and Sharing Center, and then clicking Manage network connections.
2. Right-click the connection, and then click Properties. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
3. On the Networking tab, click Configure.
4. On the Power Management tab, clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box, and then click OK.
