Hi has anyone ever setup IPSoftphone over a software VPN Before as Im trying to get it working but having no luck getting it to register with A VOIP Extension. I currently have Phonemanger working over a software VPN with no issues. And have been using this with telecommuter mode for a while. I currently have my user account on the IPoffice which is registered to my Digital Extension which is my office phone. So I setup a VOIP Extension with 0.0.0.0 in the Voip TAB and gave an extension of say 1000. Then saved this and rebooted. Then connected to Phonemanager over my VPN and tried to login to extn 1000 and my username under the agent TAB (as I want to keep my digital extension for my office phone) and IPsoftphone loads but says failed to register with IPoffice for Voip....etc.

If anyone has tried this or have any ideas then I would really appriciate it.

Cheers

HBP

Got to the advanced tab in the network connection you use on the PC, and untick Qos packet scheduler. Also in the Softphone/Phone Manager application in the settings tick enable voip.

Also I assume you have the licence for this, not just the PM Pro licence.

Did you create a VoIP extension 1000?
Disabling the QoS scheduler on the PC seems to be a bad idea to me. Setup QoS on your PC with gpedit.msc looks much more appropriate, then the voice packets leaving the PC have preference above the data packets.
Further more in the login screen of PM pro select advanced and select extension 1000 as the base extension.
As a user you must enable "forced login" and have no logon code.

@Intigrant, sometimes (usually Dell laptops) the only way to make softphone work is by turning off the Qos packet scheduler. We learned this the hard way :)

Hi guys thanks for your replies. I have all the Licences for this. As I also you Softphone on users in the office. I created the Voip Extension 1000 manually so I could log into that extension instead of using my digital base Extension. Also I have faststart enabled but this is on the extension as far as Im aware you cant set this on the user. I do have a login code set for My user because I also hot desk across the SCN I didnt reliase this stops you from using agent mode option on the Phonemanger login.

The faststart is enabled in the Extension section of Manager not in the user section.

Thanks fot that amriddle01. Im currently on site at the momment looking at softphone issues with a customer this is why i was trying to get my phonemanger to connect back to my office phone system to test this customers headsets. The problem these having is on various PC's using softphone they can hear prople fine but customers complain that there voices are crackling and got quite etc. We have been looking into this for ages and getting nowhere fast. I have noticed that since 4.1 upwards there is no longer a choice of codecs of faststart when you login in to phonemanager its now automatic why is this? I assume its something to do with Vista maybe. Also is system satatus all users with 4.2 and above are now coming up as 4624 in telephone type when there plantronic headsets? All 4.1 users come up as H.323 standard in telephone type and these users work alot better. Not sure whats going on here as I was told the lastest versions of Phonemager improved voice but mines seem to be going backwards. Do you reckon by turning off packet Scheduling this may improve this issue as well.

Cheers

@amriddle01
haha yes, dell s*cks.
Anytime i have to install CCC on a Dell server I completely re-install the OS from a OEM CD, with the pre-installed OS there are only vague problems.

I have now upgraded again to the latest version of Phonemager 4.2 (22) and it is a little bit bit better but still issues with voice. So i tried a normal headset that plugs into the onboard sound and mike ports on the pc's and then the voice quality was loads better so I think its a issue with the Plantronics USB CS60-USB Headsets. Don't know if anyone else has used these but they seem to be the cause of the problem, there not cheap either

I've used these before and have found them to be fine.

The one thing I do remember is that hwen you install the drivers, it does ask what sort of softphoen you are using

*DO NOT* select Avaya... Leave it blank

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Could it be that the mute button on the headset is turned on?

The microphone does work it just really poor quality the voice sounds all crackly for the person on the other end. As soon as I use a standard jack plug headset plugged into the soundcard it works fine. Its doing this on about half on the headsets (Approx 8). I have tried all diffrent driver and i you plug these headsets into Vista it doesn't need any drivers and so cant select Avaya etc.

Is the headset new? If it's a new CS than it has to charge up for at least 2 hours.

No there not new they had them for over a year now and had had problems since day one and the want me to Rip them out and put DS Phones in free of charge so just trying to get to the bottom of it.

I'd try downloading the persono software from plantronics, rather than just assuming that Vista has the correct drivers...
