If you re-read the post I think you will see that the poster refers to a bad card in a rip, and then goes on to say it was not a software problem but in actuality a "firm-ware" problem.
Might not be the best reference to use, it looks as though he/she had a hardware issue. I can see where it would be confusing.
Might be a good idea to post the issue you are having in your instance.
