How can I recover data from lost/deleted partitions? NTFS, FAT32, HFS+

Hello

Looking for a program to recover my data.

My old partition schema entailed the following file-systems;

NTFS
Ext3
FAT32
HFS+

Although I didn't have anything of value on the ext3 partition, so don't worry about finding a software that can recover ext3. Most important is NTFS. Seconded by HFS+.

I've seen a whole spectrum of software's, and tried a few of them.

Winternals Disk Commander 1.1

Media Tools 5.1 Professional - http://www.prosofteng.com/products/media_tools_pro.php

But neither seem to be able to do exactly what I want. Biggest issue is that neither can write to NTFS.

Also tried TestDisk... but can't seem to work out how to use it.

Please help me recover my deleted partitions.

PS: If you were wondering how they got deleted, blame the new ubuntu installation.

First port of call for me would be to try GetDataBack. This has retrieved many of my users' lost data over the years. It comes in both FAT32 and NTFS flavours, and there's a free trial version which shows you if data is going to be recoverable before you actually buy the product.

Couldn't seem to get the BartPE to boot up...

Are you saying GetDatBack couldn't finding anything? What has BartPE got to do with it?

This is the way I tackle it here... XP Pro installation has GetDatBack installed on it. The hard disk for recovery is attached as a secondary drive. XP Pro boots up and G-D-B then interrogates the drive needing to be recovered. Recovered files then placed on a separate partition of XP Pro disk.

Is that how you're doing it?

No, it wasn't how I was doing it. Theres a guide there that tells you how to put it onto bartpe for use as a boot disc.

I have also tried install XP 64-bit on my other drive. Something really went wrong, got some BIOS errors, can no longer boot up... It's crazy. Somehow I got back into ubuntu, so I can write this msg.

Try ontrack. Depending on how bad you want the data back and the exact nature of the problem, tool or services..

I've seen these guys bring an NTFS volume on a Symmetrix back after someone oopsed, presented metas from that volume to anoter volume, and formatted it. They're definitely good at what they do.
