If several different departments are sharing a BCM, can each grp have their own Night Button?

Well, there are 3 other usable Service Modes. I know you can't name them all, "Night". But that's fixable with Night 1, Night 2, etc. The problem is going to be, I don't think you can overlap the Times. So, the answer is probably, No.

no schedules. just a manual nite btn. I assume i can have say 3 control sets which means in theory 3 control sets can control 3 different ring grps. Agree?

Agree. Still the Service Mode is system wide. I guess if none of the Control Sets, Lines, or DNs conflict; you might just be able to have 3 overlapping manual Service Modes.

I believe I got it to work. I created 4 ringing services. I made the extra dial for each the DN of the receptionist in each dept.

All sets belonging to dept A, B, C, & D, I made the control set DN that of the receptionist in each dept.

I assigned the control set DNs to each of the lines belonging to a particular dept.

I setup 4 nite ring ring grps.

I also assigned the cotrol set DNs as 4 different direct dial sets and assigned sets to the correct direct dial set in capabilities programming so each grp can press 0 and reach the correct receptionist.

you can set up the service modes as you have stated

BUT

I am certain that only 1 of the 6 service modes can be in operation at any  one time,
Check that if you have switched on the D service  first then someone later activates the A service this service becomes the current service mode and D service is stopped.

Check your calls for the other modes are actually going to the correct extns when a differt service mode has been activated

It will work, that's the purpose of having different control sets for different lines. You can have 2 companies sharing the same Bcm and each have it's own PRI and not have the same opening hours.
