having trouble installing hp laserjet 1100

I have hp laser jet 1100 printer, given to me. I have an old compaq computer with windows 98. my printer wizard doesn't show this model. How do I install this printer on my computer? This computer doesn't have internet access. The printer prints but all I get is symbols. Can anyone help?

Try installing the driver for a LaserJet Series II printer. Most HP models work fine with that driver.
