Almost all my desktop icons have lost their color and gone white after an application in use failed and restarted.  The icons appear like an executable file and they can still be started.   However I am having difficulty identifying the applications because of this.  Tried restarting  the PC but this doesn't help.  Just added 1gb of memory but no luck.  Any suggestions?

search for file ShellIconCache, should be in c:\winnt, delete (or rename it), reboot. the file will be recreated by windows.
