XP pro.
On the normal explorer screen we have on the left side 3 panes. File and Folder tasks(with submenus), Other Places(with submenus), and Details.
Browse out to an example PDF. Normally when hiliting the pdf, the thumbnail will pop up on left side under the Details window. I only get the name, no thumbnail. Tried local and network PDFs.
Also when up into View and fooled around with Choose Details, still nada.
Was working fine yesterday. Tried on other XP pcs, they work, also tried using same View-Choose Details settings, same results.
The user did something but they have no idea what, neither do I.
Any ideas?
tanx in advance

...oooh this needs to go into the Browser forum Im guessing..

Actually. this is the more apropriate place. This is probably not connected to IE. What PDF viewer are you using - Adobe Reader or something else? Do the files open correctly with your viewer?

Have you checked the "Display file size and information in folder tips" box, located in Folder Options/ View?

On the same page there is a button to "Restore Defaults".

Is System Restore a "quick fix" option?

Darn, I so try to get all details in.
The pc has adobe reader 8.1, also has full version adobe 6.0.
I am able to open the document locally and on network without a hitch.
Ive tried 'restore defaults' also setup all check boxes just like on other pc's that do work, same results.
System restore could be tried, but honestly, this is the only problem happening, its such a small thumbnail, dont know why she needs it anyways but who am I to make these kinds of decisions :)
Idea..what about java or something like that? I know they released a new version last week, kinda around the same time this started...or what about Silverlight...hmm..

Try Safe Mode, see if it works from there? Safe Mode will only load the basic Window's files which should eliminate things like Java and Silverlight.

Do the Previews work if you logon as another user from Normal Mode?

aha, got it!!
On the pc I have adobe reader 8.#.#. I also installed full adobe 6.0. The user neglected to tell me (or I forgot to ask) that the trouble started at the same time.
I opened the Reader, it seemed to initialize like it was the firs time. I went in and could now see the thumbnail in the Details window.
So most likely the 6.0 caused a ruckuss with the reader.
