Where in the world do Tek-Tips members come from?

Hi All,

Please help!!!!

I am currently trying to install a web cam (vimicro) onto my PC, but as I follow the set up instructions I receive the following error message:

"The package should be installed by the account with administrator authority. Login by the account with administrator authority and run set up again!"

It's a bit odd, because it is a home PC (not on a network), and all users use the same account (the log on screen does not appear when turning on the PC).

I have restored by PC to factory settings in case it was a fault with the system, and I have used a different driver disc and received the same error message.

Any help would be great!

Thanks

Stuart

I see you've stumped the experts at cnet too!

After you did the system recovery, did you update all the components (by visiting windows update, installing IE6, etc). If the device really is ME compatible it still might need the latest versions of stuff that ME supports installed.
