plugin hibernate tool to eclipse

plugin hibernate tool to eclipse

(OP)
I am trying to install HibernateTools-3.2.0.GA.zip onto eclipse 3.1.2.

I've extracted to eclipse plugins & features and run eclipse -clean to pick up the changes. I can't however see the plugins, and can't find additional instructions if this happens.

Can anyone help?

RE: plugin hibernate tool to eclipse

Did you look at the "Help/software updates/manage configuration" menu to see if the plugin appears and is enabled ?

Tried that option but when I try to get the update I get a warning saying that I need to download various other packages and the update fails.

It may just be the location I'm trying to update from. I don't suppose you can point me to somewhere that worked for you?

RE: plugin hibernate tool to eclipse

What I meant was not tu use the update site of the plugin but to check inside the eclipse configuration to see if the plugin was present and enabled :

By the way, if the update doesn't work because of missing package it depends on, you've got no choice and need to get these packages too.
The same way some java app won't work without the jar they use, an eclipse plugin/feature won't work without another plugin it needs.

Your plugin's dependencies should be listed on the plugin's provider web site...

thanks for that, i'd mistaken what you mean't. Yes hibernate is there but when i enable it it complains about a required org.eclipse.gef(3.2.0) which is missing. I've downloaded this jar/plugin and put it into the plugin directory and rebooted eclipse however it doesn't seem to pick it up.

Is there something I'm missing here that will enable hibernate/eclipse to see this jar file?

RE: plugin hibernate tool to eclipse

Well, the only thing I see is
- either the gef package you installed is not the correct version,
- or, the gef package has also uninstalled dependencies.

Check with the same screen (Manage configuration) to see if gef appears, is enabled and, if no, why.
