We had an incident at our company with a network intrusion. It happened on 13 different occasions. We checked into the computer forensics PI's and hired a company to track down the hacker. THEY COULDN'T! They said it was impossible to track this person because of the way he was doing it!!!
To keep a long story short, the intrusions continued and we were out almost $15,000 dollars for a company that could do nothing.
Desperate, we did some research on the internet and came across a "former" hacker that went by the name v00d00, but his real name is Jason Burks.
Mr. Burks came to our facility and without any high tech gadgets, just a laptop, was able to key into our system, run what he called a back trace, and did some other things and found the network intruder. Consequently the intruder was a former employee who was scamming money from accounts within the company. His trial is in March, and with the overwhelming amount of evidence that Mr. Burks found, we couldn't be happier!!
The total cost to us for this was a plane ticket to fly Mr. Burks to our location, and less then $1000 to do the job.
Do your research before you get a PI. Find someone that is willing to work with you and doesn't have high costs or consultation fees!
