Install Loud External Ringer or Run through Paging system?

Hello All,

I have a client with ACS 7.0  He wants to add a loud phone ringer for after hours in the warehouse. He has a Bogen 35 watt amp pushing Qty - 4  70Volt horns set to draw 7.5 watts.

What is my best option.  Do I just add a external ringer to the phone extension in the warehouse?  If so can someone recommend a good one.

or Can I hook up a ringer to the Page system and what would I use to do it?

Thank for any suggestions.

Does the amp have an input for a night ringer?

You may be able to use an extension port and wire it to the night ring on the amp. Then set that extension up as the night destination and when you press the night button it will ring.

What is the model of the Bogen amplifier?

Some Bogen amplifiers have a nite ring function that is activated by a contact closure. The amplifier would have a separate volume control for this function.

One factor affecting a decision would be coverage. What would provide the needed coverage best, the speakers or a loud ringer?

Your answer to that question will tell you what your choice will be. There is no way for us to guess what your site requirements are from the info provided.

You might check out VIKING ELECTRONICS at vikingelectronics.com they might have something to fit your application.

The customer has a Bogen C35 (specs are at bottom of post).  What I would like to do is hookup a ringer to the page system.  I don't know how to physically do this (what hardware to use)

I plan on creating "ring group 4" which will consist of Ext 23,24,25.  Ext 23 and 24 are warehouse phones.  25 is an open port.  I assume that I would run a cord from ext 25 to some device which in turn hooks up to amp.

Is this correct?  What device can I use to convert the ringing from Ext 25 to an audible signal and then hook to the AMP?  Where would I hook it to the amp?

For your C35 amp you would need the Bogen NR-100 (night ringer) interface...then you could hook up x25 to it allowing the ringing to go over the paging speakers.  Price the NR-100 from Bogen then price a tone generator from Viking like SYQUEST recommended.  It's only money.  lg
