Recommend a printer?

Recommend a printer?

(OP)
I work in a small office, and we're looking at the possibility of printing our own marketing material in house (direct mailers, brochures, etc). I'm doing some shopping on printers, but I was wondering if anyone could recommend a decent printer that will give me a full bleed on 11" x 17" stock (I think I'll actually have to take a 12 x 18 and cut it down) in full color, at least 600dpi, preferably a laser printer?

Thanks!

RE: Recommend a printer?

The biggest issue you are going to find will be cost. I think your best bet will be working with a local company such as IKON or Xerox to find a solution that can be leased and maintained by them.

If you want to go with HP you will have to go into their digital prepress line to find something that can give you 12x18 paper size. VERY EXPENSIVE.

Xerox has a model called the Phaser 7760 with several configurations that can support 12x18 that start around $6000.

I"m sure IKON/Canon also offers a competing product.

RE: Recommend a printer?

Why is it that printers are made for certain paper sizes, but users always want to use odd sizes?
You are going to pay large for the quality you want, and if you are going to be production printing, you will wear out anything on the market. Thats what print shops are for.
