Cache Buffers drastically reduced after installing SP8

Help: Cache Buffers drastically reduced after installing SP8

We have a "base"/"clean install" Netware 5.1 system with 2 GB of ram, whose total cache buffers decreased from 1.8G to 1G after installing SP8.

No other changes were made to the system, and a complete wipe and reinstall confirms that the decrease in ram used for cache buffers occurs only after adding SP8. The system, an Asus Terminator C3, was running (and continues to run) well and without other problems.

Note that this is happening on a clean install (IE no parameters set - all settings at default) and no non-default programs loaded other than afreecon.nlm (so I can capture the screens below). Current test config has no other volumes, and NSS is not loaded.

*** Before SP8:

:memory
Total server memory: 2,031,166 Kilobytes

:memory map
System memory map:
0 - 12288 (DOS)
12288 - 74768 (DOS)
74768 - 653312 (Server)
1048576 - 2080309248 (Server)

Original cache buffers: 507,304

Server Memory Statistics
---------------------------------------------------------
Allocated memory pool, in bytes: 16,072,704 1%
Cache buffer memory, in bytes: 1,874,825,216 90%
Cache movable memory, in bytes: 0 0%
Cache non-movable memory, in bytes: 81,920 0%
Code and data memory, in bytes: 186,937,344 9%
Total server work memory, in bytes: 2,077,917,184 100%

*** After SP8:

:MEMORY
Total server memory: 2,031,166 Kilobytes

:MEMORY MAP
System memory map:
0 - 12288 (DOS)
12288 - 74800 (DOS)
74800 - 653312 (Server)
1048576 - 2080309248 (Server)

Original cache buffers: 261,443

Server Memory Statistics
---------------------------------------------------------
Allocated memory pool, in bytes: 30,494,720 1%
Cache buffer memory, in bytes: 1,028,382,720 49%
Cache movable memory, in bytes: 0 0%
Cache non-movable memory, in bytes: 81,920 0%
Code and data memory, in bytes: 11,911,168 50%
Total server work memory, in bytes: 2,079,913,984 100%

***

I note that 11M isn't usually 50% of 2GB and I would really prefer the extra 850M as cache buffers.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Memory Solution found:

Novell Document 2972521,
Updated SERVER.EXE for Netware 5.1 SP8.

This will be a file server only (ie, no apps / no java). From a clean install, are there patches other than:
nw51sp8e.exe
nw51os8a.exe
nwlib6k.zip
libcsp6a.zip
nfs30sp7.exe
which I should look at installing?

Thanks for your help.
