After a lengthy spell away from certification this year, I today tried booking a MS exam via VUE.

I find that quite a few sites I've used before have no appointments - ever - available for MS exams and the one I did manage to get a lot for, rejected me because I need a special voucher.

Is VUE no longer performing MS tests?
Is it Prometric only now?

That explains it....

How do you get Prometric to recognise you MCP ID so that you only have one transcript?

You don't. That's always been my biggest complaint. Take all of your tests, and let it assign you a new MCP number. When you're all done with all of your tests, have Microsoft merge the two. You'll save yourself some grief if you merge the two into the one that Prometric created, and not the original one.

What a pain lucky i got it finished just before the change.

That's always been my biggest beef with them. You can't create an account with an existing MCP number. The first time, I just had them merge the data into my original account. But, that account was the original account, and pre-Prometric. So, when I took more tests, they created yet ANOTHER MCP account. That time, I just had them merge them into the newer account. This meant I gave up the lower MCP number, but at least now I don't have the hassles.

Oh i thought your MCP id was held and created by MS, so the number on your old cards is now incorrect? (not that it really matters)

Well I thought that was going to be my case as well however results were merged into my account seemlessly. Maybe I just got lucky but my # reflected the updated results.

Yep. If you register for a test with Prometric, and create a new account with them, as soon as you take an MCP test, Microsoft generates the MCP account, number, card, etc.

The problem is that if you already have a MCP number, and then go to Prometric, you're screwed if you want to have all of the tests in one account. At least, as recent as a year ago that was still the case.

I may be misunderstanding something here, but I took my first 4 tests at Vue, then the next 2 at Prometric. All 6 are visible on MS under the same MCP number. When registering for Prometric they asked my MCP number, so I assume that is how they are combining them.

I booked a test yesterday with Prometric and a field prompted me for my existing MCP ID if I had one.

So it looks like Prometric have solved that little problem.

Cool. I'm glad to see they've done that.
