Hey All,

I'm a little new to the ScreenOS platform, but here's what I'm trying to do to set up my lab:

I have a PPPoE Connection over DSL connected to my Untrust NIC on the juniper.  This hands out one dynamic address as my "primary address" from my ISP and from there I have access to 5 static addresses.  So, here's my issue - If i hard wire the DSL modem in to my PC and fire up the PPPoE connection, i can get through to the static addresses.  If i connect this into the Juuniper and fire up the PPPoE Connection, the Dynamic address works fine, but I am at a bit of a loss as to how to configure the static addresses to work with this.  I have tried using MIPs in the policy, and i can then get to those addresses on the inside of the network, but as soon as I do this, i lose internet connectivity on every machine that uses the MIPs (possible routing issue..)

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?  This particular platform does not support the "Alternate IP Addresses" like the bigger boxes do, so that is not an option.

Thanks in advance!

RE: NetScreen 5GT

After creating a MIP did you create a policy for that specific MIP?

MIP = One to One NAT

yeah, to no avail though.

When i called AT&T support, they told me that if the connection picks up the gateway address on the PPPoE connection, the device doesn't support what i'm trying to do... and the juniper picked up the gateway address.

I find it hard to believe that this is not possible on this platform though...

RE: NetScreen 5GT

If you are picking up a dynamic address how are you getting static addresses on the same subnet as the dynamic surely they would change every time the dynamic one does.

You would need to reconfigure the MIPs every time it changed.

You could try using a VIP so that you only pointed the ports you need to the servers on the inside using the dynamic address as the untrust interface.
