I have CR 8.5, using Running Totals expert I created running totals and dropped the formula in the page footer and it works great. However I would like to reset the RT at each page number change, there is no grouping in my report.

You can't reset the automatic RTs by page.  
You could use the older technique to do this but putting a reset formula in the PH.  See the FAQ on running totals in the General forum and use the 3 formula technique.
