Photo-Paint 9 Color Balance Auto feature activation

Photo-Paint 9 Color Balance Auto feature activation

Does Photo-Paint 9 have an auto color-balance feature?

I would swear that when I used to use the Image -> Adjust -> Color-Balance feature, it would automatically adjust the color values for a given image or mask (which is great for me because I'm not a very good judge of color values).

If the auto color-balance feature does exist, it has been deactivated. How do you turn this feature on (given that it is a valid feature)?

RE: Photo-Paint 9 Color Balance Auto feature activation

I assume you are now using version 9.  It has been a few years since I used version 9, but try under the Adjust menu - Adjust > Auto Adjust.  I believe in v11 it was under the Image menu.  X3 has it under its own menu.  Sorry if this is sporadic, going from memory.

Thanks for the reply.  Yes, I am still using Photo-Paint 9.

Under the Image -> Adjust submenu, there is an "Auto Equalize" selection (which works great), but there is no "Auto Adjust" selection.

RE: Photo-Paint 9 Color Balance Auto feature activation

If I recall, under the Adjust submenu, the third choice down from the top is the option that gives you the best reuslts.  I also recall using another tool down the list.  If I recall, there are two line breaks from the top (in the Image menu if I remember correctly), the first item under the second line break - auto balance, or color balance, or something to do with balancing the colors automatically, combined with the Auto Equalize, usually does good things for photos.  Moreover, the order in which they are applied has different results.  Sorry again for not being more specific, it definately falls under the category of "if you dont use it, you lose it".  Anyway, hope this helps at least point you in a direction to find something useful.  IFyou ever do make the upgrade to v11 or higher (I really do recommend X3) they have some auto adjust tools, with the color, tone, and saturation (shadow, midtone and highlight) sliders all in the same useful tool now (X3) and the "Cutout Lab" is fantastic for hard to do masks.  IT finally incorporates the Corel Cut out (or was it Knock Out?) program and features from many years ago into the Corel Photopaint suite.  For the price of the upgrade, it is hard to justify not upgrading.  Just some food for thought.
