Outlook API to open PST and update PST contents

Do you think the following scenario is possible with some provided Microsoft API:

1. User is provided PST file for outlook
2. In outlook, chooses some new action "update PST"

3. logic programaticaly goes through every msg in the PST, and can either:
   3a. leave the msg alone
3b. remove the msg from the pst
3c. remove the msg from the pst but also save a NEW msg in its place (either at the same spot or at the end of the PST)

Any feedback appreciated, just need to know if it is possible to accomplish in the first place,

Thanks,

Why?

Exchange is a mail store for a reason - PST files are bad.

ok, i understand where your coming from. How would a user send all the contents of their mailbox to another user, who is not part of that exchange server? (ie, across different companies, etc)

though i cannot use other mediums, i am open to hear alternatives

thanks, lsm

Public Folders and OWA or just bundle what you want into an email and send it.
