Hi Guys,

If anyone can help me with a query regarding controlling Vista via Windows 2003 Domain using GPO's it would be much appreciated.

Got a thread in the Win2k3 forum: thread931-1299319

Thanks,

Steve.

Have a look at Method #2 - Using Regedit,  see if you can make use of that.

How can I disable the User Account Control (UAC) feature on my Windows Vista computer?

Thanks [b]linney[b/].

So MS won't be doing any feature/update packs for Win2k3 Server so admin can control Vista specific features via GPO's?

Cheers,

Steve.

That's the problem! How can I roll out a new client OS when I can't control the new features via GPO's.

I understand that MS have changed the file format for the ADM files to ADMX but I can't go ahead with Vista until I can control the client settings.

Cheers,

Steve.

You can roll out the new client and control the new features via GPO's, simply install the W2K3 admin pack on your Vista Workstation and install Group Policy Management Console as well, open up the policy FROM your Vista Workstation and you should see the GPO options specific to Vista, edit and enable your settings and it will be on the server.

Really? So the ADMX files get converted to ADM and shoved to the sysvol?!

I honestly had no idea that I could do that!!!

Nice one! (Sorry, haven't been suprised by Windows for quite some time now - that's a star!)

Cheers,

Steve.

Yep, it even states this on the Microsoft website, though their example is for multilingual purpose.

Glad I could help :)
