Can somebody recommend a nice benchmarking software that i can run on my computer?

To benchmark the system as a whole I use SiSoft Sandra.

For benchmarking of 3D performance 3DMark is always a good bet, plus the demos look very cool on a top-end machine. :)

Depends what you are trying to test.

Like ED said, if you have a top spec PC then 3DMark2005 & 2006 from futuremark.com are very good.

They also do PCMark which will test your whole system.

For component specific benchmarks there is software such as HDTach for your hard drives and memtest for your RAM (less a benchmark, more a diagnostic).

You can also have a look for SuperPi and Prime95 - both are good at stressing your system and seeing how it is running.
