I wanted to upgrade the MC and I he the following errors:

I recently ran into something very similar trying to upgrade to 8.4. I ended up FTP'ing the SMCFW84.BIN from my laptop to the /C: drive, then upgradeXa'd from that location.
   With the newer IPL cards, you can't FTP from the IPL> prompt (permissions must have changed) like you used to be able to, so you have to connect via serial port, then enter jkl at the appropriate time in the boot sequence (watch the screen closely, and type jkl right after you are told to do so). If done properly, you should get to just a simple > prompt.
   Then go to a CMD window on your laptop (assuming that you laptop is joined to the ELAN network), navigate to the directory on your PC where the .BIN file is located (example: c:\temp). Then:
type ftp <enter>
type open x.x.x.x <enter> [IPT ELAN address]
At User prompt, type itgadmin <enter>
At Password prompt, type itgadmin <enter>
type binary <enter>
type put SMCFW84.BIN <enter>
The transfer should begin, and it should inform you that the file was successfully transferred.

After that, reboot the IPL card and do the same procedure that you did before, but substitute /C:/ for /A:/   (You'll need to use your card's logi/pass combination, as itgadmin/itgadmin will not work at this level -- only the BIOS level)

   FYI, I had to capitalize .BIN, and I noticed that your example had it in lower case.

The only downside of doing it this way is that you leave the original SMCFW84.BIN file behind on the C: drive. If you want to delete it after the process is complete, you need to go to the vxWorksShell and type ll <enter>. You should see the file in the resulting directory listing. Then type rm "SMCFW84.BIN" <enter>

Hi,

I used the option "jkl" with itgadmin/itgadmin and the firmware version on PCMCIA card, and after upgradeXa and reboot the card.
I used the option "transmit node properties" from Optivity/IP Telephony and after that the card was OK.
