Hi,
I'd like to know what basic good backup strategies that are being used out there using commvault.

How would you go about implement a 'GrandFather, Father, Son' backup strategy using commvault ?
ie: daily incremental, weekly full and monthly full.

Its not clear in the documentation how I can setup the monthly backup cycle to be 6 months. After which reuse the same media.

Appreciate any help.
thanks

You could just setup individual storage policies for each or if you are using 6.1

Set up 2 storage policies;-

1 for Full backups and 1 for incrementals.

Configure the Storage policy for your Full backups and apply the extended retention rules for your monthly Full backups.

Also in the Full storage policy select 'Incremental Storage Policy' under the General tab and point it to the incr SP you already created.
