Can you get into the server using safe mode? Looks like a video driver problem possibly, but you wouild need to check the event logs to see if there is any indication there of what may be the problem. I hope you find this post helpful.

Have you made any changes to the server (ie Service Pack or Hotfix, driver updates etc...)? Also, have you run a virus scan? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get!" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

OK, and from that screen, if you hit Ctrl+Shift+Esc do you get the task manager? If so click File, then Run and type Explorer and see if that gives you the desktop. If you got the task manager but still no desktop, see if you can run msconfig and then click the startup tab. Disable everything there and click OK. When prompted click Restart. If that solves the problem, slowly add back the items you disabled one or two at a time with reboots between each to determine what is causing the problem. I hope you find this post helpful.

A similar issue happened to me when the system disk filled up. For some reason it zero out settings in the registry You'll have to free up some space and perform registry edits remotely. Remember to backup your registry before performing any task like this. this is the edit required to get the screen back or close to standard.
