Novell 5 on SP6a

Need to rename a user account id - is this possible?

Is there a mass way of doing it?

1) Yes, select the user, goto Object > Rename.
2) No. User names by definition are not generic and cannot be changed on mass.

Don't forget, if your account has an associated home directory, that also has to be renamed and the path changed in the Environment section or else the home directory will not be mapped.

Why do you need to rename mass users (out of interest)?

Not necessarily rename mass accounts...

We have a Desktop configuration where there is a generic profile being used for users to login as. This is after they have logged into their current Novell account. The generic Windows XP account profile password is blank.

We are getting Zenworks. But apparently need to set the current Novell accounts to be the default. My question was based on seeing what else we can do to script it. Rather than go through 'sneakernet-work'.

Thats a bit different from your original question ! and I'm still none the wiser as to what you are trying to do??? All I can make out is that you want to login through Novell and automatically enter a blank password into the workstation. If this is the case then either tell the PC to use a generic account with no password or use the synchronise option when loggin in through Novell and set the windows password to blank. Confused? , we will be.

rsebasti, it sounds like the issue is that you want to create local accounts with the same name and password as the eDirectory accounts.  If you are getting Zenworks, you can use the Dynamic Local User feature to do exactly that.  Don't bother going around on foot creating local accounts, the DLU feature can be configured in about 2 minutes.
