I'm trying to find a way to lock in an original promised ship date on our sales orders.

Unless I'm missing something, the only options for dates is the header Order Date field and the detail line Request Date and Ship Date fields.  When any of these fields are updated, the old data is just overwritten & lost.

Has anyone run into this kind of situation? Found a workaround?

When you change the Ship date, You are prompted to update the new shipdate in all lines. This will only change the ship date. There is also another prompt that ask it you want to replace the customer original request date. If this is taken then both dates are altered. If you want to preserve the original request date then they should not change the customer request date. An alternative would be to use a custom form the capture the original promise date.

We are already using those two fields. I was hoping I had missed another one somehow.  Looks like a custom form field is my only option.
