Good day!

A computer on our network receives this message (the blue screen of death) and we must restart the computer to continue:

>administrator or technical support group

It looks daunting, and I'd like to "solve" the problem without reinstalling Windows NT 4 Workstation.  Any suggestions?

Try replacing your memory (RAM)... this error can be caused by faulty memory.

I would also try rebuilding it with a plain SP6a NT installation, just in case it is software/config/virus based.

After the STOP (0x000000??)

What fills in the question marks?

a 50 can be memory an HP print drive etc.

Copy down the STOP CODE and put it into Google/Groups/advance search and see what you get. You might have to search several time and reduce the length of the string but you should get your answer.

i also have that problem, could overclocking your ram damage your ram?

This error message usually is caused by a device driver problem or hardware incompatability. Be suspicious of anything new added to the machine. Most people will tell you to make sure you have the latest drivers, and this is usually true. But occasionally I have updated drivers in NT and had problems. Going back to an older driver settled things down. Also you can check your event log and the dr watson log (drwtsn32.log) for clues as to what is causing this.

When I opened up the laptop this morning - it had been left on overnight - I had the blue screen message with a large list of files on the screen.  The system will not start NT4.0 and stops at the error message above.  I don't know what I will need to do to get the missing DLL in place, and I don't have a floppy drive on this system to start up with (long story).  I do have a CD/DVD drive.

Any thoughts and help would be most appreciated!  Thanks
