Maybe there is a hardware guru that can answer this question for me. How many sticks of RAM will a 6H1 memory card hold? I am considering a upgrade and was just wondering. I know IBM can pull the config for the box and give me this info but I thought I might save myself a call and ask here. Currently I have 6 gig of RAM in 1 gig kits so that is 12 sticks already installed.
Thanks,

It depends on how many memory expansion cards you have. Each memory expansion card has 16 sockets. I'm guessing that as you have 6GB you only have the one card so 4 sockets left. IBM list price for 1GB mem (2x512) is UK£2,101 Memory Expansion card is UK£1,242
This is assuming that you don't have the single 600MHz CPU option. |
