Val Boards

How to back up Val board with DOS commands by robpaetzold
Posted: 14 Apr 06

First step is on the Switch, and you will need to disable after completing the back up.

Type, ôenable filesystem board xxxxxö  The  login is ôvalö
Then add password,  ôval11234567ö

When finished with back up type ôdisable filesystem board xxxxxö

On the pc that will store the back up, create a file on the c drive called ôvalö
Then open a dos command prompt to the directory you just created.  Note: if your command prompt opens with the documents and settings and user prompt you will need to type ôcd c:\valö Then ftp to the ip of the val board by typing ôftp xxx.xxx.xxx.xxxö where x is the ip address of the val board. Then it will ask for ôuserö enter ôvalö Then it will ask for ôpasswordö and you will enter ôval1234567ö
Then it will say ôuser logged inö and you will type ôbinö
Then it will say ôtype set to I, binary modeö and you will type ôpromptö
The next prompt you will type, ômget.wavö
Then it will start backing up to the directory you created.
Once it is finished you will need to go back to the switch and disable the val file system.

To restore from the saved directory, follow all of the above procedures except ômget.wavö, you will replace this command with ômput.wavö and the announcements will be restored to the val board.  Please see the example below.
Good luck.
