Where should the Private directory be located?
Posted: 23 Dec 05 (Edited 19 May 08)
|
Paradox/BDE can sometimes write temporary files one directory ABOVE the directory where the Private directory is set.
For this reason, you should set the Private directory TWO directories (folders) deep.
Particularly with XP and Vista, which don't allow normal users to write to the root of C: drive.
Something like c:\pdox\priv, so in those instances where Paradox/BDE write a temporary file UP one level, the files would be written to c:\pdox. Be sure all users have full rights to c:\pdox and below.
NEVER set the Private directory to the Working directory! |
