Click Start and then click Run. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK. Navigate to the ddeexec registry subkey under the following registry key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\htmlfile\shell\opennew
Click the ddeexec registry subkey and then delete it. Navigate to the command registry subkey under the following registry key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\htmlfile\shell\opennew
Double click the Default value in the right hand pane. Make sure the string looks exactly like the following, including the quotation marks, and assuming that is where IE is installed: "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" %1
Click OK. Close the Registry Editor. Restart Outlook and the attachment file opens correctly.
