Customising Boot and Welcome Screens
Posted: 13 Nov 03

We have had several people asking for reliable ways of customising the Boot and Welcome (logon) screens recently. So I thought I would take a look into this and pull together some user friendly info.

For Customising the Welcome Screen download the free Logon Loader software from http://www.radfiles.com/logonloader/

This allows you to load pre-designed screens, this might sound limited, but if you visit http://www.themexp.org/ or http://www.belchfire.net/modules.php?name=XP_Themes you will see there are thousands or designs to choose from.

If you really want to create your own then I would recommend downloading StyleXp and StyleBuilder from http://www.tgtsoft.com/download.php they are 30 day trial but have full functionality. These allow you to customise not only the Welcome screen but your whole theme.

For Customising the Boot Screen download bootskins from http://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=32 , again free. There are also loads of bootskins you can download and if you want to create a BootSkin your self take a look at http://news.deviantart.com/article/11742/ for the simple instructions.
